Housing and Innovation Technique and Domestic Space in the Residential Works by Pierre Jeanneret, a Contemporary Analysis for Design Housing Solutions

For Jorge Luis Borges "no one can claim originality in literature; all writers are [...] translators and annotators of pre-existing archetypes"[1] affirming that literature is made from literature. In the same way architecture has its origin in other architectures as Emanuel Christ would express: "Since -now- is not the end of history but only a stepping stone between the past and the future, the architecture that we build today has not only meet current criteria, but also engage with the past and to point the future. Thus, through our work we hand down to the next generation that which we have learned from our ancestors"[2]. Therefore, when talking about designing, memory, or better yet the study of the matter, becomes a fundamental tool, as Josep Quetglas says, "A project is never started on a blank paper and by an amnesic hand"[3],, making an allegory to the memory of the architect who has studied, seen, learned architecture. For this reason, the present thesis fits within the methodology of Research driven research, because by describing, analyzing and understanding the residential systems designed by Pierre Jeanneret, it is possible to establish principles, concepts and new knowledge about the residence that help the architect when designing in the current context.
