DDR Statement

The Research Project derives directly from my practical work as an architect and is based on a series of Design Build Projects I have realized so far within my practice.

Within the research the Design Build Projects serve as case studies and are developed and realized regularly throughout the research. They form the methodological key point of generating new knowledge. Being actively involved in the process of each project allows an intensive observation on the progress according to the method of participatory observation.

Through an iterative process of analysis, reflection and evaluation the research tries to unfold the inherent architectural qualities, name them and investigate their meaning in the context of Tectonics and architectural experiences.

By making use of different methods commonly recognized as methods of Design Driven Research like texts, sketches, photographs, drawings, movies, models, mock ups, etc. the research tries to find ways of communicating the findings and make them accessible and comprehensible for a bigger community. It is based on a particular and (personal) design approach but seeks for knowledge that can be of common interest.
